As we are now in the leaf drop and pollen season a helpful tip is to make sure to keep that skimmer basket clean. Make sure if you have a lot of trees you clean the skimmer basket out multiple times a week to get the leaves and pollen out. To clean your basket is a simple 5 min or less thing to help you keep your pump running smoothly.

Cleaning Your Skimmer Basket

On your deck, you will see a lid that is easily opened by pulling straight up. Once you have taken that lid off you will see all your leaves that have been collecting over the past few days as the pool is running. You want to look inside to see if any little animal friends have joined in with the leaves. Once you have checked that out find the handle and pull up on the basket. All the leaves will stay in place, now all you have to do is empty in the trash or location that will make sure that they don’t make their way back into the pool. Don’t make twice the work by emptying it to close to the pool. Once the basket is all cleaned out just put it back into the housing area and place the lid back.
