Acid Wash
Hi folks! Today we are going to talk a little bit about an acid wash on your inground concrete/gunite pool/spa.
Summer is upon us, but it is not too late to get your pool looking good for this years swim season. Perhaps your pool finish is starting to get old and has a brown or green ish color look to the walls. Maybe the stones or diamonds are harder to see and they don’t pop out like they once did? An acid wash might be just what you need! Some of these discolorings can be from multiple different things such as heaters, the use of chemicals that have copper in them, and fertilizers… The list goes on with the things that can make your pool surface look old and grungy. Now, not all pools can be acid washed. Your pool surface has to be structurally sound and not flaking off when it’s rubbed or brushed. The acid takes a thin layer off the surface exposing what’s underneath, freshening up your pool/spa surface. There are no guarantees on what your pool will look like when it is completed and fill back up with water, however they do usually turn out much better than what they were before. It is the best way to clean your surface and get it looking as good as it can without spending thousands of dollars doing a renovation. Depending on the integrity of the surface and the severity of the staining, it might take a 50/50 solution or it could take full strength acid washing the pool.
