For Salt system cell cleaning, it is important that you inspect the salt system cell every 3 month per the manufacture and if it needs to be cleaned do so. A light on the control box will give you a clean or inspect cell warning. These warning lights do need to be reset one the process of cleaning is completed. If you do not reset the system will not know that maintenance has been done. Every unit does have it’s own way of resetting the cell so you will need to have instruction the first time you are doing this if you have never done it before. A dirty cell can give you false readings on your power supply box. This can also cause the system not to function at all. A drop in production could lead to low chlorine levels that could cause an algae bloom. For salt system cell cleaning you will need a cell stand, acid and water(4 to 1) or a cell cleaning solution. During this process the acid eats away any build up that you have seen on the plates inside the cell. There will be an odor with the fumes as it is cleaning, so you do not want to stand right over it while you are cleaning.
Some homeowners would rather not mess with the acid and fumes so they will call in a pool company. Please feel free to let us know if we can help you out. We can teach you how for the future or set up a rotation that we would come out and take care of this for you.
